24th Annual
Members’ Juried Exhibition 2020

The Palm Beach Photographic Centre proudly announces its 24th Annual Members’ Juried Exhibition, which will take place in our beautiful museum space in our facility in downtown West Palm Beach. The Members’ Exhibition will also be showcased on our website.

The exhibition is open to photographers worldwide, both amateur and professional. Palm Beach Photographic Centre (PBPC) invites photographers working in all mediums and styles to participate. Experimental and mixed techniques are welcome. Those photographers wishing to exhibit, who are not currently members of Palm Beach Photographic Centre, must join by indicating their membership level on the entry form. All membership fees are nonrefundable.

2020 Members’ Juried Exhibition Gallery

Once the Juror’s selections have been made, an online gallery will be created with the accepted images, and you will be provided with the link. Entrants who find any of their images in the gallery will be required to submit their photographs to PBPC by August 1st, 2020 at 4pm.

2020 Members’ Museum Exhibit

Opening Reception: Aug 21st,  2020 6:00- 8:00pm

Exhibition Dates: August 22 to October 24

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES

Entries for the Members’ Juried Exhibition must be submitted no later than May 16th, 2020. A maximum of ten images may be entered for consideration by the judge and possible inclusion in the exhibit. Nude images will not be accepted.

FEES

There is a non-refundable entry fee of $20 per image submitted, up to eight images total. Please include your membership fee if you aren’t a member or if your membership has expired. Your membership must be active through October 24th, 2020. Membership fees are non-refundable.

JUROR

Matt Stock

Matt Stock developed his signature style of Painting with Light in the Dark® after building his career fusing art and science. Stock’s knowledge of his craft and innovative methods have led to many honors and awards including works in the permanent collection of Biscayne National Park and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, presenting speaker with TEDx Coconut Grove, recognition as one of five experts in night photography by Shutterbug Magazine’s 2014 Expert Photography Techniques Magazine, one of thirty artists representing the National Park System’s Centennial Anniversary. He was also recognized in 2017 with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

May 16 • Deadline for entries
June 27 • Notification of Juror’s decision

July 3 • Frame reservation requests may be sent via E-mail to info@workshop.org. Must specify frame size. E-mail requests sent prior to July 3 will not be honored.

July 25 until 4pm • All unframed artwork that has reserved a frame must be delivered to the Centre by this date and time.

August 1 until 4pm • All framed and alternative artwork must be delivered to the Centre by this date and time.

Oct 26-31 • Photographers pick-up artwork

 

Step 2: Please follow these requirements when preparing your images for submission:

Image metadata should contain proper Copyright and Title information as these will be used in the online gallery. Photoshop, Lightroom and other imaging applications allow the user to set this information.

All images must be in JPG format.

Image resolution 300 ppi and no more than 3000 pixels on the longest side.

Individual files must not exceed 5000KB (5MB) in size.

File names must be of the following format:

Your last name followed by the underscore character, first name followed by the underscore character, and the number of your entry to match the image titles you submitted in Step 1, entry form. e.x.: doe_john_1.jpg doe_john_2.jpg etc.

File names must NOT contain spaces or any other punctuation characters other than dash or underscore: – and _

Any files not conforming to these specifications will not be accepted.

 

Phase 2: Notification of Juror’s Decision

You will be notified by June 27th, 2020 of the Juror’s decision. If any of your entries are accepted, you will be asked to provide exhibition prints conforming to the specifications below.

 

The Juror’s decision is final. No substitutions will be granted.

 

Phase 3: EXHIBITION PRINTS 

Full framing and print guidelines will be provided in your official acceptance notification. All accepted artwork must conform to the following requirements to be exhibited:

  • To encourage participation by photographers from around the world, optional printing services are available. Additional details will be provided upon request.
  • The Centre recognizes that some work is non-traditional and incorporates the framing as an integral part of the presentation.
  • Metal pieces must have rounded or dull corners with mounting attached. No sharp edges or corners will be excepted.
  • Canvas prints will not be accepted.
  • If the artwork will be displayed in a traditional format the:
    • print’s matting should be in white, cream, or ivory.  Matting, however, is not required.
    • Frame must be Black, Silver or White.
    • Framed print must be ready to hang with a secure wire 4” from top of the frame (no saw tooth hooks).
    • Images themselves must not exceed 30″ in any direction.
    • Framed artwork must have Plexiglas or plastic. No Glass is allowed.
  • The minimum size of all final pieces must have an image size of at least 8 X 10 inches and a frame size of at least 11 X 14 inches
  • The maximum size for all final pieces cannot exceed 32” in any direction.
  • All artwork should be ready to install and be properly identified with the provided label securely attached.

DELIVERY & PICK-UP

  • All original artwork accepted for exhibition framed and ready to hang must be delivered to the Centre no later than August 1st by 4:00 p.m.  (Hours at the Centre: Monday–Thursday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.– 5 p.m.)
  • The exhibition closes on October 24, 2020.  Artwork must be picked up between October 26 –31. Artwork will not be released to any person other than the photographer without the Centre’s receipt of written authorization from the photographer.  Unless arrangements have been made in writing, Art work that is not picked up by December 1, 2020 will become the property of the Centre.

SHIPPING REQUIREMENTS

Accepted photographers are responsible for all shipping arrangements and expenses. Round-trip shipping expenses must be prepaid. Those entries sent collect will not be accepted. Please allow two weeks for shipment. Artwork must be packed in reusable packing, and all packing material must be sufficient for safe return. Crates must be clearly and properly labeled for return shipment.

INSURANCE

While caution will be exercised in the handling of accepted artwork, the Palm Beach Photographic Centre cannot assume liability for loss or damage caused by shipping or hand-delivery of artwork. It is the responsibility of the artist to provide adequate insurance coverage for their artwork.

 

AGREEMENT

The submission of works to this exhibition will constitute an agreement to all of the conditions in this prospectus. Please read the entire prospectus to familiarize yourself with the terms of agreement and important deadline information.

By entering the competition, the photographer grants the Palm Beach Photographic Centre permission to reproduce their artwork for publicity and/or educational purposes.
