Youth Workshop
Art Everyday Everywhere
Great potential pictures are everywhere, you just need to learn how to see them and capture them. Artist in Residence Wes Carson is a fine art photographer who captures everyday places and things through digital imaging. In this youth workshop, he will share his current work; take participants through the history and practice of documentary photography while at the same time teach techniques for creating their own work. No previous experience necessary! Participants will be guided through the basics of digital photography, lighting, image editing and printing.
Wes Carson is the head of the photography program at Miami International University of Art and Design and a former assistant to Irving Penn. Carson has over 20 years experience in commercial photography and has been an actively exhibiting fine art photographer for the past 13 years. He received his BA in Photography from the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California and his MFA in Photography and Digital Imaging from the University of Miami. Carson has been teaching at the university level for the past 5 years at MIU, the University of Miami and Barry University. He is currently working on a documentary project that examines the influence of popular culture on contemporary society.
