Description

Narrative Photography – Your Book Project will use hands-on and digital tools to get to the next stage, be it a presentation book mock-up or uploadable template for an e-publishing site. We anticipate projects at all levels, that some people will be in the early stages of exploring images in a body of work and that others may come ready to dig into a book to be uploaded to an e-publisher.

This workshop hearkens back to the studio workshop I led at PBPC in the spring of 2009, out of which several book projects developed - from the poetic vision of a pilot/photographer to a children’s story and a study ice sculptures, as well as many other lively and inspiring projects.

Some comfort with Photoshop is important to get started - and there’s always a lot of on-the-go Photoshop learning in the class.

Biography

Diane Farris is a photographer working in Gainesville, Florida. Her work has been widely collected and published, with several public commissions. She recently has explored the Florida prairie and its Sandhill Cranes, as well as images about children, home, nature and water. A new body of work explores a long- standing relationship with Italy. Farris is interested in art and issues of sustainability. Her work has been published traditionally (In Dolphin Time, Type Tales, New Vegetarian Classics), and she is also intrigued with the unfolding possibilities of e-publishing.

“Diane's workshop gave me just the tools I needed to bring my photo book idea into order and focus. From photoshop file preparations, to sequencing the print images, to writing sample text for jacket and inside - it was all valuable, engaging and encouraging. And lead to publication this spring of "Sea and Sand from the Sky" - a collection of Aerial Photography.”
