Description
Join Harrison Funk in this intensive 3-day workshop, and explore Miami’s diversity by roaming its neighborhoods. The workshop, designed for both film and digital camera users, will combine fieldwork, lectures and critiques. Enjoy Miami’s balmy March weather while learning to overcome the technical challenges of documentary and travel photography. The workshop will begin with a day and evening in Little Havana, photographing the faces and places that have made this neighborhood famous. We will travel by foot down Calle Ocho (Eighth Street) stopping to shoot interesting portraits, architecture, community activities and an occasional Cuban coffee! The following morning we will ride by boat down the Miami River, capturing an unusual view in the early morning light. From there we will be transported to the Little Haiti neighborhood where we will roam its world of markets, street vendors and unique shops. After |lunch, we will go over the previous days work and then return to the streets to capture color illuminated by a Miami winter sunset. Sunday morning will find us awaiting the golden rays on the art deco hotels of Miami Beach. We will spend the morning walking South Beach’s sand and streets. Sunday afternoon on South Beach guarantees an array of subjects not to be found elsewhere. Sunbathers, rollarbladers, vintage cars and candy-colored architecture. As the sun sets, we’ll capture the neon lights bordering Ocean Drive. You’ll leave Miami with interesting new images as well as increased technique for meeting technical challenges.
