Portraiture provides the photographer with a unique privilege: to introduce his or her subjects to the world not only as beautiful beings, but as remarkable people. This workshop will be an in depth immersion in the technical and psychological challenges inherent to making portraits. Paramount will be an examination of relationship with an emphasis on accepting as opposed to imposing “poses”.
An intuitive use of the camera will be taught. You will be taking many pictures to help you absorb and refine skills which are intended to liberate you from the deliberate methodology that is often inimical to spontaneity.
An important aspect of the workshop will be a careful review of work done by each photographer prior to the workshop. You can bring work in any form.
