Description

This is a non-technical course with an emphasis on elements of design and what goes into making an interesting, expressive photograph.  Join us for an artistic exploration of light and shadow, composition, color, line, form, balance and texture, and how an awareness of these elements can enhance your photography. Assignments, class discussions and critiques are important components of this course.

This course gives an excellent grounding in the visual aspects of photography. It emphasizes seeing and basic camera operation without the need for high tech cameras.  It is designed specifically for those who want to focus on creative and aesthetic issues while working with any type of digital camera.  No technical understanding of photography is required, just an openness to seeing the camera as a vehicle for personal and social expression.  You come away less intimidated by the camera and more appreciative of photography as an exciting and fun thing to do.

This is not a course on digital technology or technique.  It is a course on visual techniques and exercises to help you make great pictures with any camera.

Levels: All levels
Prerequisite: digital camera, memory card, images for initial discussion/review (prints or digital images on a memory card)
