FOTOcamp 2019
Three Two-week Sessions Ages 10 to 17 - 9 am to 3 pm #1 June 10 to 21, 2019 #2 July 8 to 19, 2019 #3 July 22 to Aug 2, 2019 Description Each workshop is instructed by a professional photographer and trained teaching assistants, who will introduce all levels of photography in a fun and engaging way according to each FOTOcamp participant’s degree of experience and personal interest. Each student receives individualized and group critiques of their work. Groups are limited to 14 participants to maximize the learning experience and ensure personal attention. We issue each student a digital camera to use while on our Fotowalks and field trips beginning with the basics of picture-taking while exploring lighting, and composition of photographs. From here the students will work on file management, storage, and post-processing using Lightroom and Photoshop in our computer labs where each student has individual access to state of the art computers and the latest software. with Vincent Versace "I was taught that the best photographers were also the best printers. This means that the best photographers understood and experimented with all that was possible in the darkroom while being aware of certain limitations. The eye always trumps technique, but an eye without technique produces little of the artists’ voice. All decisions about a final print are best made at the point of capture, and all decisions are informed by your understanding of printing. The more you understand about the middle process (photo editing), the more informed your decision can be at the beginning (the point of capture), because everything you do is in service of the print and the goal of every print is to be in service of your voice." -Vincent Versace The focus of this workshop is fine-art digital printing. You will explore the software tools (correcting color casts, adjustment layers, Black and White conversions that replicate the look of silver prints), color management, custom profile, and workflow considerations that you will use to create prints. Those prints will translate your artistic voice into something people can see spoken into your printed images. You will use Epson inkjet printers, with color and black/gray ink combinations utilizing coated and fine art rag papers. By the end of the week, you will have mastered all
