Description

Learn to create beautiful floral images.  Flowers are like people. They have their good sides, angles and lighting that can accentuate their beauty. In the first 2 days of this three-day workshop, you will learn various ways to light and compose flowers for the most impact, whether a single bud or a colorful arrangement.  You will use shells and other vessels along with soft draping to work with natural light in the studio as well as out in the field.

On the third day you will explore the use of pastels to create a turn of the century look.  Adding that chalk-like texture to your print turns your image into a mixed media piece of art.  Whether you are creating for yourself or sharing with the world, it will give your images a new feeling, from vibrant to etherial.   Barbara will show various ways to use pastels along with the selection of paper to enhance your vision.  You will hand color some of your images from the shoot, learning techniques on layering pastels and blending color, and walk away with your own pieces of art.

Barbara will show you:

  • How to arrange flowers according to color, shape and height for a lovely photographic composition
  • How to use soft light to create an ethereal look to your images
  • How to isolate your subject
  • How to incorporate backdrops for a more dramatic image
  • How to best capture an array of blooms

On the third day, you will learn hand-coloring techniques.

These techniques include:

  • Practice on your images printed for hand coloring, while learning techniques on layering pastels and blending color.
  • Learn to use the pastels along with the selection of paper to enhance your vision.
Learn how to print your own work for various styles of coloring, from minimal color to covering your whole image.
