with Barbara Ellison Mar 21-23, 2017 Description Learn to create beautiful floral images.  Flowers are like people. They have their good sides, angles and lighting that can accentuate their beauty. In the first 2 days of this three-day workshop, you will learn various ways to light and compose flowers for the most impact, whether a single bud or a colorful arrangement.  You will use shells and other vessels along with soft draping to work with natural light in the studio as well as out in the field. On the third day you will explore the use of pastels to create a turn of the century look.  Adding that chalk-like texture to your print turns your image into a mixed media piece of art.  Whether you are creating for yourself or sharing with the world, it will give your images a new feeling, from vibrant to etherial.   Barbara will show various ways to use pastels along with the selection of paper to enhance your vision.  You will hand color some of your images from the shoot, learning techniques on layering pastels and blending color, and walk away with your own pieces of art. with Alan Winslow Mar 23-25, 2017: 9:30am - 5:30pm Description Going on a vacation? Traveling to a new and exotic locale? In this three-day intensive, award winning photographer Alan Winslow will help you to hone techniques and strategies for making a body of work that captures the essence of a destination. This workshop will guide you in using your camera to experience a place through landscape, nature, street photography, and portraits of people. This class will also cover equipment selection, packing, file management on the road, and developing a cohesive travel narrative. By the end of the three days, participants will have created and edited a travel story that will be reviewed on the final day of class. Biography ALAN WINSLOW, a photographer and educator based in Brooklyn, NY, has lectured and shown work at institutions such as the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Photoville 2014, the DUMBO Arts Festival, SUNY Buffalo, and the University of Florida, Gainesville. He was selected to attend PhotoCamp 2014, and is a 2015 Artist in Residence in Everglades Fellow. He teaches photography at Brooklyn Central as well as at The Maine Media Workshops and College. Beginning winter 2015 Alan will also be teaching at the International Center for Photography.
